Reunions

The Inn: Perfect for a family Reunion

As the new century becomes busier many lose close contact with old friends, and occasionally, even members of the family.

But suddenly realization hits.

And that's why increasing numbers of people are planning reunions, and really enjoying them.

And need one suggest that an inn is the perfect place for a reunion? Of course, the suggestion extends to planning that next gathering - or perhaps it's the first - at Walker House in Lenox, Massachusetts.

Each year the Inn plays host to all kinds of reunions - families whose members travel from all parts of the country to enjoy happy times past, or old school chums who are able to rekindle the romance and joy of the first experiences of adulthood.
Sometimes it's a reunion of old neighbors or a convivial gathering of those who worked together in a company that may be long buried in the relentless world of mergers, and now is only a memory in the hearts of those who once cherished the bond that it created.

Walker House is the perfect reunion spot. The large parlor is ideal for cocktails and endless conversation, and for gathering around the grand piano for those songs immediately recalled by everyone.

The big dining room is the spot for special meals, breakfast served every morning at the inn, and luncheons or dinners that may be prepared together in the kitchen by family members or friends.
And, of course, any of the fine restaurants in Lenox Village will be glad to provide a royal feast for the entire clan with prior reservations.

Often, in reliving the old days. reunion members settle down for games of Scrabble, Monopoly or cards - all in fully supply in the parlor, along with a large collection of antique picture puzzles.

The Walker House Cinema in the library is a film lover's dream, with a large collection of classic and more current movies projected on the big screen with stereophonic surround sound. Opera fans also will discover an array of their favorite work from the lyric theatre.

And if the guys who love sports can wrestle the Cinema away from the movie fans, the big screen also is a great for watching football, basketball and other televised sports.

Venturing outside the Inn, guests at the reunion also can enjoy the activities for which the Berkshires are renowned: outdoors - skiing and snowshoeing in winter, hiking any season, bicycling.

Others will discover a number of art galleries and antique stores a few steps away, and just a bit farther, super museums like the Norman Rockwell, the Berkshire, MASS MoCA, the Clark Institute and the Williams College Museum.
For those gifts to take home, shoppers in the group will be delighted with the upscale boutiques and gift shops around the corner in Lenox Village, and the big factory outlet mall just 15 minutes away in Lee.

Obviously, it is not going to be difficult to find things to do at the next reunion. The big question is: Why did it take you so long to plan a reunion?
Do it right away. The Inn is available throughout the year, but the best times are during the spring, early and late autumn, and during the winter, when most people are eager to have some fun with those they love.
